"I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth " Exodus: 34:10 (KJV)
Jacob

"If anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in Him. This is how we know we are in him. Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did."         I John 2:5,6

Bible clearly describes Jacob as a deceiver and a greedy man. He took advantage of his brother, Esau’s, ignorance and grabbed his birthright from him (Genesis 25: 26–33). Later, he cheated his brother of his father’s blessing by putting on the clothes of Esau and cooking the most desired venison for his father. Although he got the blessings, the trick backfired on him. He had to run for his life for more than 20 years.

Esau sought to kill him (Genesis 27:41-44). Upon his mothers advice he fled to his father-in-law, Laban’s house. On his way he sees a vision in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. There he makes a covenant with the Lord. "If God will be with me and take care of me and give me food and clothes I will pay to him a tenth of everything he gives (Genesis 28:12–22)". He does not evince any sympathy from any of us for his nature. Yet he was chosen by God. Here we find that God came to him full of promises, not the reproach he deserved. Jacob had not looked for God but God looked for him.

Jacob also had positive traits. Jacob was and industrious person. In spite of his father-in-law deceived him by changing his wages ten times (Genesis 31:41) still he worked hard for him for 20 years.

Jacob was a prayer warrior (Genesis 32:9–12). He sends of his household and prays alone. Later he fights with the angel to bless him (vs. 24–30).

He had 12 children who became the tribes of Israel.

He started his life with struggle and bitterness but ended his life in peace and solemn.

We can learn a valuable lesson from the life of Jacob that God makes his own choice and good or bad they would be made a channel of blessing for the whole world. Since God chosen you, your life will also be blessed and made a channel of blessings for the people around you.

May the Lord bless you.
