Grace in the sight of the Lord
"But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord." Genesis 6:8
At the time of Noah, the earth was filled with wickedness. The Lord decided to destroy the earth, amazingly one person in Bible found grace in the eyes of the Lord. He was Noah. In our mind, a question is raised; when there are thousands of people in this earth, why should God spare Noah. Here, we find a very good example of how God appreciates the attributes of a person. He may be just one in a million, still Lord goes in search of him. Now, let us see what special features of Noah attracted God to save him for the future generation.
We find in the scriptures (Genesis 6:9) that
Reading the qualities of Noah, we immediately say that may be it was possible in those days. It is not easy to lead a righteous life in the present days of wickedness. In Genesis 6:5,6, we read that "Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually". Although God knows that the very intention of man is evil, he is there to help us lead a righteous life. We find in Genesis 6:9 that Noah was a just man. The Lord, therefore, decides to bless the family of Noah also. Because of you, your whole family will be blessed. That is the promise the Lord is giving to you.
To bless Noah, Lord chalks out a plan for him. He asked him to build an ark. He gave him clear-cut instructions regarding the dimensions of ark (Genesis 6:1416). Noah did not doubt the plan of God but obeyed him and did what was instructed to him. This lead to the escape of his household sons and daughters-in law. Only eight of them were saved from the flood. When God asked him to enter the ark there was no sign of rain. In Noahs position, we would have asked a lot of questions to God. In our life, we find it hard to accept the decisions of God in our life. Always remember one thing that if you live according to Gods ways, you need not worry about your future. He already has a plan for you. Apparently future may look bleak to you, but the Lord says to those of you who have failed in life that there is a future.
God blessed Noah and his family (Genesis 9:1). God said "be fruitful and multiply". If you follow Noah, God shall bless you and your family.
When we look at the end of Noah, it was wonderful. He died at the ripe age of 950 years. He was insulted and humiliated when he was building the ark. Many would have mocked at him saying, Noah you are building an ark but where is the rain. When he preached about repentance, the people ignored him and neglected his words. Noah lived to tell the wonderful works of God while those who insulted him perished. When you tell about Christ to others, do not be disheartened. Just remember you will be rewarded by God in this earth and in eternity.
May the love of the Father, the fellowship of the Son and the communion of the Holy Spirit be upon you.
