"I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth " Exodus: 34:10 (KJV)
God's blessings

The Lord wants to bless everyone of us. In order to be blessed, he expects that we follow his commandments. And the commandments become an integral part of our conversation and behavior, protecting us in times of temptation, and must be passed on to the coming generation.

Deuteronomy Chapter 6 deals with the great commandment of God – the commandment to bless us and our family. Although receiving is enjoyable, we should also remember something has to be given in return. Let us see what the Lord wants us to do to bless us.

First, we should keep the commandments in our heart (Deuteronomy 6:6).

Second, teach them diligently to our children, while talking, walking, sitting, and when you put them to bed (Deuteronomy 6:7). For many, this commandment may even seem stranger. As we spend all our time for earning money, we neglect our children. Ask yourselves how much time you spend with your children. They are your assets. They need your love and affection more than the comforts you buy for them. From today, take a decision that you would spend quality time with them everyday. God has given you the greatest gift use them carefully that you may reap the blessings in your old age.

Third, Keep the commandments in your house as a remainder (Deuteronomy 6:8). Decorate your house with God’s words. Every time you read them, they will remind you to obey him.

If you do this, God says, He will give you beautiful cities, houses full of good things, wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant (Deuteronomy 6:9). In short, you will never go hungry and lack of any good things. He shall also redeem you from sin – anger, violence, envy, hatred, etc.

Some may have already been blessed with all these things but those of you who find life not to be as rosy as depicted, there is still time for you. Just do what the Lord says and he will surely bless you. After receiving blessings, God warns you also about the days of abundance:

  • Testify to others about what the Lord has done to you.
  • Be careful not to forget the Lord your God who has redeemed you out of the slavery of sin.
  • Worship the Lord at all times. In your abundance do not say, you are too busy and that you have no time to spend time at the feet of the Lord.

Finally, when you do all these, it will be well with you. He will also drive away your enemies from your face so that you may have a peaceful living to enjoy the Lord’s blessings.

May the Lord bless you.
