receive God's blessings
Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold, and the Lord blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great. For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants and the philistines envied him. Genesis 26: 1215
Abraham was close to God and he was called the friend of God. After the death of Abraham, God chose Isaac his son and blessed him. It sounds too great to learn that when Isaac sowed he reaped a hundredfold times. The Philistines around him were envious of him. We also work very hard without much sleep or proper food at the proper time. Inspite of it, we fail to reap its reward. What was so special in Isaac that God blessed the work of his hand. Does our God show partiality between his children like the human fathers sometimes do or is the God who blessed Isaac is no longer active? No, definitely, our God is an impartial God and is the same yesterday, today and forever. Praise the Lord.
Here, we shall some of the reasons why God blessed Isaac. Priority to God, efforts of Isaac and his preparedness; these are the three qualities exhibited by Isaac.
In Genesis 26:24 we read that Isaac builds an altar to the Lord, when God appeared to him. It represents that he fully well knows the power of God and acknowledges it through worshiping God. You might think that do I not know the power of God. Yes, you do know but ask yourself if you Him his due. Do you get up early in the morning and pray. The scriptures say that those who seek me early in the morning shall find me. You may give umpteen number of excuses for not getting up early and pray. But God is not interested in them. If you can get up early to do your work you can also get up early to pray. There is no use giving excuse to the Lord. If you have the burden in your heart for your neighbors, friends, relatives and others, then you will not be able to sleep until they find Christ and enjoy the same joy of salvation. If you want God to bless your life, submit yourself before Him and ask him his grace to help you get up early and pray.
Next, Isaac put his efforts in sowing the seeds and reaped a bountiful harvest. Likewise, for the Lord to bless our lives we should put more efforts in our work. We cannot afford to be lethargic. The scriptures ask us to learn lessons from the ants. Poverty will creep upon the lazy man (Proverbs 6:911). Be diligent in your work whether you are an employer or an employee. The Lord expects your truthfulness. Same way, it is also necessary that you show more interest in the ministry of God. The period that we live on this earth is short, therefore, as Apostle Paul says we ought to utilize the time given in our hands and spread the gospel of the Lord to and fro and to all the earth. Your church should be benefit through you. Take active part in all the service of church. What you do for the Lord alone will stand at this end.
Before Isaac sowed in the land, it must have been fallow. He first prepared the land by ploughing it hard and watering it. If you want God to bless you, you should be prepared for it. You must wait upon the lord in much prayer and rectify your ways. Sinful ways are an abomination to the Lord. Confess your sin and repent from it. Jesus shall then bless you and give you a peaceful life.
May the Lord help you to prepare yourself to receive the blessings which he has kept in store for you.If you are blessed by this message kindly let us know, that we praise God together at firstname.lastname@example.org
