visited by the angel of the Lord
"Then the angel said to them, Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10,11
The Angel of the Lord is a widely used old testament expression for the manifestation of God, usually in the human form to human beings. The Lord either speaks directly or send His angels to comfort, condemn or counsel His children. Various such examples can be seen in Bible. A few are quoted to make you understand that you too are being administered by the angel.
1. Angels are sent to admonish his children
Manasseh was a very wicked king and his ways were displeasing to God. The Lord warned him about his deeds. Neither he nor his people would heed to the words of the Lord and turn from their wicked ways. This angered the Lord and he allowed Manasseh to be bound by bronze chains and taken captive by the neighboring king. Manasseh underwent much agony. He later realized his blunder and humbled himself before the Lord. The Lord answered Manassehs prayers and restored to him his kingdom. Likewise, time and again you have been warned by the Lord of your ways yet you would not listen. Repenting and asking the Lord for his forgiveness, at least this time, would give you yet another chance. Would you humble yourself before the Lord and turn away from your sins today?
2. Angels are sent to comfort
Hagar was visited by the angel of the Lord as she was running away from her mistress (Genesis 16:711). Hagar did not have anyone to defend her when her mistress ill-treated her. The Lord was watching her, He knew how helpless she was and that she had no one to support. We may also be passing through such helpless situation no one to help us out of our situation. As Hagar was comforted so shall you be comforted by the angel of the Lord. As a mother carried you over her shoulders so does the Lord. You are not alone. Mary was frightened when she conceived Jesus Christ through holy spirit. she was aghast not knowing what to do. the angel of the Lord came to her and said to her "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God" (Luke 1:30). The Lord shall look after your condition. He will lead you through your trouble and make you come out victorious.
3. Angels are sent to bring glad tidings
The angels are also the messenger of glad tidings. they brought the news of Jesus birth to the shepherds (Luke 2:10). The birth of Jesus brought peace on earth and deliverance to the mankind. The glad tidings is meant for you also. Accept Jesus Christ, he shall give peace to you and to your family.
