"I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth " Exodus: 34:10 (KJV)
Can you shed tears for others?

"Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? Was not my soul grieved for the poor?." Job 30:35

Prayer is a powerful tool in the hands of a believer. We know prayer changes things and it can work wonders. Despite this knowledge many seek God only during adversity. They pray for themselves and their problems. Here is a God who expects you to pray in good times and in bad times – not just for yourself but for others also.

In Bible, we find an interesting character – Job. He underwent all the possible agonies for no reason yet he trusted in God and could pray for others.

Job was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil (Job 1:1). He was a rich man of his times. He was a good parent concerned about the well-being of his children (Job1:5). Satan disliking his integrity took the permission of God to test him and see if he would deny God and backslide. He lost his cattle, wealth, and children all in one day. His wife on seeing this, suggested to him to "curse God and die" (Job 2:9). His wife too abandoned him – the only person who could have comforted him.

We can learn quiet a few lessons from the life of job.

When satan touched his body, big boils erupted all over his body. He could not sleep in peace during night neither rest at day time. He says, "When I lie down, I say, when shall I arise, and the night be ended? For I have had a fill of tossing till dawn. My flesh is caked with worms and dust, my skin is cracked and breaks out afresh (Job 7:4,5). He did not curse God but said, "Though he slay me, yet will I trust him" (Job13:15). Can you pray for others when you are plagued with sickness, debts, disharmony at home or office? It is difficult but when you pray for others God will change your matters for good.

Job says, "All the days of my hard service I will wait, till my changes comes" (Job 14:14). Wait patiently upon God he will definitely fight for you. When you are surrounded by enemies the Lord will do the battle for you. Because you have a God who fights on behalf of you (Isaiah 64:4).

Pray for those who are sick and needy. You may split your prayer timings and use at least half your timings for this cause. This will relieve you of your problems. This is one way of getting answers fast from God. Also, when you pray, feel the others problems and pray. Your own experience would help you to understand the problem your neighbor faces. The reality is that we do selfish prayers and tell ourselves that we do not have time to pray for others or make a long prayer.

After all God has given you so many blessings which others do not possess. How can you expect God to answer your prayers when you are reluctant to pray for others. The Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends and God restored to him two-folds of everything which he lost (Job 42:10). I encourage you in Christ Jesus to increase your prayer timings and learn to pray for others, that God may turn your captivity into blessings.

May the Lord bless you, your family and the efforts of your hands.
