"I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth " Exodus: 34:10 (KJV)
The Lord who helps in your distress

"I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to Me. Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family." Genesis 31:13

During the old testament days, the Lord spoke to his people through angels and priests. Jacob had to flee his home because of cheating his brother. On his way to his uncle, Laban’s house, he cried unto the Lord to save him on his way. The Lord heard his prayer and saved him from all calamities. While working in Laban’s house, Jacob felt dejected because his uncle cheated him several times. It was a time when Jacob felt lonely and without anyone to speak on behalf of him. At that time, the Lord told him, "… for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you" (Genesis 31:12). He thought no one was seeing the unfairness but the Lord was watching over him. You may also be in a similar situation as Jacob – no one to help. The Lord is speaking to you through this newsletter. He says, "I have seen your tears, your anguish and broken heart. I will not allow you to be like this forever. You will be delivered soon. " What a mighty God is our Lord.

Jacob was a person who was forsaken by his father and mother. They asked him to run away from home. The people whom he trusted most could not help him. His father advised him to go to his uncle’s home (Genesis 28:1). If you have also been forsaken by your friend, husband/wife, children, parents or any one for that matter, do not worry, the Lord will take care of your life’s journey. He will be your friend, father and guide along life’s narrow way. Jesus loves you and He will be with you.

Another lesson which we learn from Jacob’s life is that, God speaks on behalf of us to our enemies. Jacob could no longer tolerate the unjust ways of his uncle Laban, so he fled from his home. Laban rode behind him to harm Jacob but the Lord spoke to Laban in his dream, "… Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad" Genesis 31:24. Sometimes we also afraid of some person whom we think might harm us. Everyday would pass in fear and sufferings. The Lord says to you today, "Do not be afraid, I shall fight for you". The Lord will speak on behalf of you to your enemies and warn them not to harm you.

Jacob was a grateful person. He says, "I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth which you have shown your servant. For I crossed over this Jordan with my staff, and now I have become two companies" Genesis 32:10. Jacob says, "I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me in the way which I have gone" Genesis 35:3. He remembers his past, the way in which he left his house. Now, he is overwhelmed by the love of God which had made him a wealthy person. He wants to build an altar to God and worship him. Do you also have a grateful heart or do you always complain only of the things which you do not possess? For the Lord to perform a miracle in your life, you should have a grateful heart. Otherwise, it will be a waste to do anything for you.

We also find that the Lord reminds Jacob of the vow he made to God in Bethel. Jacob made a vow before God, "Then Jacob made a vow, saying If God will be with me and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God and this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be god’s house, and of all that you gibe me I will surely give a tenth to you" Genesis 28:20. Do you pay tithe to God. Tithe means paying a tenth of all your earnings to God. By doing it your life shall prosper. You will not lack in anything. You may think my earnings is so less, I cannot afford to pay tithe. Just do what Lord says then you will know the difference in your life. I have experienced it in my life. The more I give God, the more He gives me back. Perhaps this may also be one of the reasons which is hindering the miracle.

As Jacob will you also ask Lord to help you out in your distress. He is eagerly waiting for you to come to Him.

May God bless you.
