"He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things. He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him." Daniel 2:21,22
Wisdom is the principal thing because it is not merely an intellectual activity; wisdom leads to a full life, which allows one to enjoy the public and private life. Wisdom is more important than gold or silver. Very often we yearn to possess the wisdom of King Solomon. We should know that the Lord is the source of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. However, His resources are for His saints, those who seek to please Him by living uprightly.
In Bible, we read of Daniel who was blessed with wisdom, knowledge and understanding. God-given wisdom is different from the knowledge acquired through books. Some of the characteristics of God-given wisdom is given below.
Understands visions and dreams
King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream which he forgot. His astrologers, magicians, and chaldeans could neither reveal him the dream or its meaning. Daniel revealed to the King not only tell the dream but also its meaning. Bible says, " God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams (Daniel 1:17).
Understands righteousness and justice
The wisdom of God would help you to understand the righteousness and justice. You will be able to discern between good and evil. You will not take decisions based on what others say but the inherent wisdom will help to distinguish the just and unjust. Since you want to live uprightly, you will always be in the side of righteous. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path. When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul (Proverbs 2:9,10).
Good at all manner of workmanship
Wisdom of God would make you shine in everything you do. You will be an outstanding student pass your exams with flying colors. You will be master of all arts. The Lord said about bezaleal that "And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship" (Exodus 31:3). The Lord is giving you the same promise today.
Favor with God and man
Wisdom gains us respect in our family and workplace. Scripture says that, "Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man" (Luke 2:52).
What can we do to acquire such wisdom. It is simple. The Lord asks you to keep your body and mind holy. The Bible says, "Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God and you are not your own?" (I Corinthians 6:19). To keep yourself holy, you should be in fellowship with God. You should not be partakers of evil with your friends. God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore (I Kings 4:29).
