"I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth " Exodus: 34:10 (KJV)
Are we seeking the right thing

"Pursue love and desire spiritual gifts." I Corinthians 14:1

Men are continuously searching for something or the other in this busy world. Some pursue money, some career, some for lost things, some seek to regain the misplaced love and some yearn for friendship which would not wilt at the first ray of sun. The Bible says, in order to be empowered by the Holy Spirit we should seek things which do not wither, fade or slip away from us.

Love is universally sought after by everyone in this world. We search for the true love which will not be hypocritical and abandon us when the going is rough. No amount money can buy us love. Only the love of Jesus could satisfy our inner cravings. The love of Jesus is selfless no matter how selfish we are. Would you also pursue for this love (I Corinthians 14:1). Ask God to fill you with this kind love that will be selfless and not try to deceive those who trust us.

Peace and holiness are the other important nature which God expects from us. Bible says, "Pursue peace with all people and holiness without which no one will see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14). We should learn to live in peace with everyone around us. If you have the inborn nature of getting on a tiff with anyone who comes in contact, ask the Lord to heal you of this mental sickness and provide you, first, with the inner peace and a peaceful attitude towards others. Jesus Christ through his blood has cleansed us from all sins and he is eagerly waiting to give us the inner peace if only you would accept him as your Saviour.

Seeking to do good is one of the motto of Christian living. Jesus has taught us to repay good for evil. The Scripture says, "Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men" (Romans 12:17). Although it is difficult to practice, if we ask God, He is just and faithful to give us a heart filled with love for others and which yearns "to do good."

Both children and adults alike love to receive gifts. Bible teaches us about the gifts of the spirit which is useful for us and for others (I Corinthians 12:31). Gifts of Spirit edifies us, help us to grow spiritually, help us to discern false teachings and so on.

Seek the things of above which includes love, joy, peace, gentleness, patience and self-restraint. If we put our heart on gold and silver, it can be stolen from us but the things of the above cannot be taken away from us. It can only be imparted from us for the benefit of others. Therefore, set your mind on things above not on things on the earth (Colossians 3:2).

We have to seek all the above-said things because we are eagerly waiting for our heavenly home as this world is not our permanent residence (Hebrews 13:14).

May the Lord help us to continuously seek to grow and take root in Christ.
