"I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth " Exodus: 34:10 (KJV)
Do you want to live holy?

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves form all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. II Corinthians 7:1

Unclean clothes or body can be cleansed with soap and water. What would you use to cleanse the filth of your heart. Why is there no happiness in the family, no peace in heart? Because there is no fear of God. Initially, after coming to know Jesus Christ many are very enthusiastic and try to lead a holy life. As the days go by, satan gradually pulls them away from Christ and some are lost forever and some come back to Christ. Today, we shall see how to keep away from the grips of satan and keep oneself holy before God.

1. Holiness by not defiling with rich foods and drinks

To be holy, first we should control our body. We should allow our body not to be defiled by unholy eating and drinking. In Bible, we read that, "Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with portion of king’s delicacies (Daniel 1:8,9). He spent more time in praying and meditating upon God. Lord acknowledged his self-control and gave him and his friends knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom. Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams (vs. 17). Not only that, King found Daniel and his friends ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all is realm (vs. 20). This shows that God can be trusted to provide with knowledge and wisdom for those who restrain from unholy eating and drinking.

2. Sanctification with the blood of Jesus Christ

Blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sins (I John 1:7). In the olden days, blood of animals were used to atone for the sin of man. Jesus Christ came into this world to redeem us from the sin and give us a sustained holy life. Any type of sin can be cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. Many feel I have done greater sin than any other and, therefore, there is no redemption for me. If you trust in Jesus he can redeem you from any sin. After getting saved, the old sinful man of ours may peep in every now and then apply the blood of Jesus on you everyday to chase him out. How to apply the blood of Jesus? We should take part in the holy communion given in the church (may be once a month or once a week as per the church norms). It strengthens our body and soul.

3. Sanctified by the word of God

Another way of keeping oneself holy is by keeping the word of God. How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to your word (Psalms 119:9). Youngsters and the old alike are surrounded by many evil temptations. Inside or outside the house, the eyes are lured by evil designs, we hear undesirable things, and get influenced by friends. It is very difficult to resist such temptations. Anyway, how to resist such temptations? Bible says, the simple way is to meditate on the words of God always. Set a time apart to read Bible and have fellowship with God through prayer. While travelling or on bed, meditate on what you have read. Trust me this definitely works from corrupting our mind from fantasies and evil temptations.

4. Holiness through Holy Spirit

God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth (II Thessalonians 2:13). After getting saved anointment with Holy Spirit is important. He gives us the power to resist sin thus keeps us away from sin. Bible says, Holy Spirit helps in our infirmities (Romans 8:26). If you are an already saved person who is sure of the Lord’s forgiveness of your sin ask the Lord for the anointment of Holy Spirit. Anyone who diligently asks for the Holy Spirit shall receive it. Will you ask him today?

After accepting Christ, many feel it is very hard to resist sin. Now that they are aware of the sin, they feel guilty when committing a sin. If you are one among them, this message is for you. In this message, God teaches you how to remain holy before his eyes. All you have to do is follow the above-said simple steps and see a great change in your life.

May the Lord bless you and keep you (Numbers 6:24).
