if God is pleased with you
The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him (Psalms 147:11)
We try to please our boss, spouse, children and friends very often by foregoing things we love most. Sometimes it is rewarding. But many times it has an adverse effect on us when the other person fails to reciprocate our feelings. We end up feeling dejected. With God, you never have to feel let down, because when you please God he reciprocates your feeling through His love. Do you have any clue about how to please God? Here are few points which suggests ways to please God.
1. God is pleased with those who fear Him (Psalms 147:11)
What does the fear of God mean? Bible says,"Fear of God is to hate evil" (Proverbs 8:13). Refrain from jealousy, arrogance, pride, and so on. It is not enough if you say I do fear God once in a while, you should fear God always (Proverbs 28:14). Fear of God also means not to backbite about others (Numbers 12:8). It is a common disease which is prevalent in the families, among friends, colleagues, and even in church. Some have the audacity to speak against the servants of God. Do you keep criticizing your pastor or the elders of the church. Even if they are at wrong it not your duty to criticize them. Lord is their judge, He will take care of them. Remember you are accountable for every word you speak (Matthew 12:36). You should not have deceit in you mouth (Revelation 14:5). Some have the habit of talking sweetly, at the same time wounding others. You can neither deceive the listener nor God. He will certainly repay for what you sow. Are you a person who abuse others with your words or a person who uses filthy language. Get away from such undesirable habits. Speak only what is good and what will edify others, so that it imparts grace to the hearers. An easy way to achieve this is to have praise and song in your mouth always. When you keeping praising God always, you will not be able to use filthy language, backbite or slander others.
2. God is pleased with your praises
Praising God should become an important part of our life. God is pleased with those who praise Him continuously. He is not God who takes pleasure in those who receive the blessings but fail to thank Him after that (Psalms 106:10-13). You could have observed a common breed of people, who come to church when they are burdened with several cares of this world but after they receive the blessings they disappear from the church. God is pleased only with those who are thankful to Him and whose mouth is filled with praise. When Joshua and his troop praised God, the walls of the Jericho fell down (Joshua 6:20). When King Jehosophat praised, he got victory over Ammonites (II Chronicle 20:20-24). Bible says, praise God for everything (I Thessalonians 5:18) and always (Psalms 34:1). If you do so, God shall do great works in your life.
3. God is pleased in prayer
Prayer changes things. Everyone knows this quotation, but do we apply in our life. Pray to God for everything, even the impossible thing will be made possible by God for us. Pray not only for yourselves but also for others. Assume the burden of others as your own and pray for them then the Lord shall restore your losses and deliver you from sickness and debts (Job 42:10). Pray also for those who rule over you: your boss, those who are in authority, ministers, prime minister and president (I Timothy 2:1-3). God shall give a peace for your city.
4. God is pleased with those who give Him enthusiastically
God has given you many blessings. What have you done to God so far? Do you give to God generously and with enthusiasm. It is not enough if you give some offering in the church. You should pay tithe regularly and support ministries. God is pleased with those who give Him enthusiastically and generously (Exodus 25:2, I Chronicle 29:9). He shall certainly repay in 100-fold whatever you do to Him.
5. God is pleased with integrity in heart
David wrote, "I know also, my God, that you test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things" (I Chronicle 29:17). God searches the heart of people for integrity. If God tests your heart, will He find uprightness or will it be filled with lies. David could say boldly to God that he is upright in his heart. Pray to God to give you a upright heart.
Now, we know what is pleasing to God, why not try to please God and be a blessing. Sometimes it may seem difficult to follow these but always remember, with God everything is possible. Just surrender yourselves to Him.
