You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you. Because he trusts in you Isaiah 26:3
Many start their Christian life in Spirit and end in flesh. In the beginning all of us were without the knowledge of Christ. We accepted Jesus Christ as our savior through faith. Later, we saw the manifestation of His power in our lives which helped us to build a life in Him. As the days go by, our carnal desires once again overpowered us and lead us away from Christ and His love for us, this happens very often due to lack of faith. A building built on strong foundation alone will withstand the test of harsh weather and rain. Similarly, our faith through which we accepted Christ should be built on strong foundation. Accepting Christ for the material benefits would not remain for long. Here are some of the points on which our faith should be built.
Firm in Foundation
Our foundation should be built on Lord Jesus. Faith built on the trusting man, or preachers would not last longer. Many believers look unto those who preach as a role model and when these preachers fail to meet their expectation the believers get frustrated and turn away from the Lord. Bible says, "The solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: The Lord knows those who are His, and Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity." - II Timothy 2:19. The firm belief that the Lord knows who are His alone can stand the test of time.
Firm in Prayer
Be firm in prayer. Trusting that somebody will pray for us will not help us. whatever may be your problems lean on God, he alone can give you an answer. Moreover, Jesus loves to speak to you and expects you also to speak to Him. It is through prayer you can speak to Him. As you pray more, you will have a close communion with Him. All your trials and tribulation though they persist, when you pour out your woes to Him, you become light hearted. Soon your problems will be solved without your knowledge.
Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continue steadfastly in prayer. Romans 12:12
While asking God for something believe that he is going to answer your prayer. Bible says anything asked in doubt shall not be given to Him. The world and the things thereof belongs to Jesus, so when you ask Jesus there is nothing that he cannot give to you. He is the one who created all the human beings. So He can speak to anyone and change their minds. Do not fret that you are unable to convince your husband/wife or your boss, etc. The Lord will speak on behalf of you.
Let him ask in faith, with no doubting for he who doubts is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways James 1:6-8
Firm in the Word of God
Reading Bible is very important as it is the word of life. As given in the previous point Jesus loves to speak to you. He speaks mainly through the Bible. Sometimes he speaks through pastors, through dreams and so on. But on a day-to-day basis He speaks to us through Bible, the word of God. Bible gives us peace of mind. When on the crossroads it helps us to the right decision.
Hold fast the word of life - Philippians 2:14
Firm in Calling
You have been chosen by God even before you were born among millions and millions of people. He has taught you His ways and how to lead to a lead a righteous life. It is, therefore, your duty to remain true to your calling. Only those who remain firm in His calling till the end will be saved.
Be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble II Peter 1:10
