"I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth " Exodus: 34:10 (KJV)
Be Cautious of the Dividing Spirit

I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them – Romans 16:17

There are two forces in the world, which constantly strive for the expansion of their kingdom – God and satan. While God expands His kingdom by building the families, satan goes about breaking the families. Those who fall prey for him are added to his kingdom.

Dividing spirit is a primary weapon used by satan to break the family and church. St. Paul warns us against this dividing spirit. At home, brothers and sisters fight against each other for petty reasons and due to the hatred sowed by satan against each other. In the church believers backbite against the each other and against the preacher. Gradually this leads to the split in the church. One after another leaves the church. Do not think that this will not happen in my family or in my church. The Bible clearly warns us that "if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall" – I Corinthians 10:12.

How do we overcome such dividing spirit?

Division starts with backbiting. If you find a brother or a sister committing sin, gently allude to his finer senses and explain to him that what he or she is doing is not correct. If that person listens to you, it is good for him otherwise pray that God may bring him back to His fold. Never backbite to another person about it. Bible warns that "If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other" – Galatians 5:15.

Another major problem is the deceitful preaching by those who come in the name of the Lord. There are some who to get some monetary benefit from you visit your houses in the pretext of praying for you and give deceptive philosophies which will be contradictory to what was preached in the church. They may say that following a particular tradition is not wrong. Doing small sins are okay and so on. In some cases, they try to confuse you with worldly logic. They may even implore that the Bible was written long time back and the teachings were fit for those times and not for us. Do not entertain such people inside your house. If you do, they may lead you to backsliding from the principles which you were taught. Your foundation is to be on Christ.

Paul says, "See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ" – Colossians 2:8

Preaching the word of God is a mission for which we are all called for. While doing so; be careful to practise what you preach. When we tell others about Christ they keenly observe our life before they get convinced of what we say. Leading a blameless life alone can beget fruits for our efforts.

"Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in this, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers" – I Timothy 4:16.

As I told you before when you admonish a believer of his sin, be gentle to him and show him your love so that he may be restored into the folds of Christ. At the same time be careful not to take part in his sin. Always remember satan is like a roaring lion waiting to devour anyone who would be lax in his faith.

"Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted" – Galatians 6:1

Now that you are warned of the dividing spirit, beware that you do not fall prey to the vices of satan. Pray for your family and your church everyday that God may protect them from all evil.

May the Lord protect you, your family and church from the grips of satan.
