"I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth " Exodus: 34:10 (KJV)
Greater things using small things

Behold, there arises a little cloud out of sea, like a man’s hand – I Kings 18:44

My problems are big but I have no means to solve my problem. Will God intervene and give me a remedy?

I have great zeal for God’s ministry but have no money to contribute to the ministry. What shall I do?

I am an insignificant person. What can God make out of me?

Do you want answers to these questions? Read the following message, you will find an answer.

God wanted to bring deliverance to the Hebrews from the hands of Pharaoh through Moses. But Moses was reluctant to be used. He was afraid of the people and of Pharaoh.

The Lord said unto him, What is that in your hand? And he said, a rod. And God said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground and it became a serpent. And Moses fled from before it. – Exodus 4:2,3

In the above passage, we read that Moses had only a rod in his hand, which he used to pluck leaves for the sheep. When God asked him what he had in his hand, Moses did not consider the rod to be of any great importance. He threw the rod down as instructed by God. The rod turned into a snake. No more could Moses claim it as his rod and stand before it. Instead he fled before the snake. When the rod came into the control of God Similarly you may be having an insignificant thing in your hand and you may wonder what good can come out of it. Allow that insignificant thing in your hand to be used by God. Then witness the miracle. Your life will be totally changed. When God used Moses rod it became a serpent. This simple miracle became the beginning for greater miracles which led to the deliverance of Hebrews from Egyptians.

In an another incident, Elijah, the prophet, met a widow in the Zarepath. The city was hit with severe famine. The widow was collecting twigs for fire. Elijah asked her to get a morsel of bread and water to drink.

And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse – I Kings 17:12.

I am collecting these twigs that I may bake some bread and that I and my son may eat it and die. Elijah did not take no for an answer but asked her to prepare the first bread for him out of the flour which she had. He also said, the flour and the oil shall not decrease until the famine is over. The widow believed the words of Elijah and did as he commanded her. To her surprise she found that neither the flour nor the oil was decreased.

You want blessings in life. You want the financial burdens in your life to be lifted, to become free of debts and want enough to lead a happy life. All the while you keep complaining of no money. You wonder how am I going to pay this months fees for my children? How am I going to meet this month expenses and pay the rent? The Lord is asking you, do you pay your tithes regularly. Bible says tenth of your income belongs to God. Do you question God that your income is so low how is it possible to pay the tithe. God says give it to me and test and see if I will bless you or not. Are you able to pay generous offering to God without grumbling? Do you help Gods ministries? If you do God will change your financial conditions. The widow trusted the words of the prophet and she was blessed. Trust the words of God, he will bless you.

There was severe famine in Israel for three years as there was no rain. Elijah told Ahab, the king of Israel, that he hears the sound of abundance of rain. Elijah then went and knelt before God and prayed for rain on top of mount Carmel. He asked his servant to go and check towards see if he can see any cloud. The servant said he could not see anything. Likewise, he did for six times and on the seventh time he saw a cloud as small as a mans hand. It was a very small cloud. Elijah knew his God is capable of doing greater miracles through small things. So he told Ahab to hurry to the palace that the rain might not overtake him.

Behold there arises a little cloud out of the sea, like a mans hand. And he (Elijah) said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare your chariot, and get down that the rain stop you not. And it came to pass in the meanwhile, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. – I Kings 18:44

A small cloud brought heavy rain. An insignificant person like you can change the life of others for good if you allow yourself to be used by God. The foremost importance is to submit yourself in the hands of God. Then God will use you mightily in your neighborhood. You will be a blessing for others.

May the Lord bless you.
