I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day II Timothy 1:12
Paul in his epistle to Timothy boldly writes that he knows whom he has believed. When he wrote the epistle, he was facing death, and has almost come to the end of his lifes journey on this earth. He has faced ups and downs in life ever since he accepted Christ as his savior. He was beaten up, stoned, whipped, went through nakedness and hunger, nevertheless, he boldly proclaims that he knows whom he has believed. None of the sufferings could separate him from Christ. How is your belief in Christ? Are you able to say the same words boldly in your times of trouble or do you curse God and say does the God whom I worship have eyes to see my problems? How is your conviction about Christ today? Is it so shaky that it may topple you any moment? Or can you emphatically declare that my savior lives?
Let us see what kind of God did Paul believe in?
A God who bruised the head of Satan
God cursed Satan for prompting Eve to sin against Him. God said your head would be crushed.
He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel Genesis 3:15.
Jesus crushed the head of satan when he bore the cross and the sufferings and died for us. He rose up on the third day to proclaim the victory. Therefore, we need not fear against the power of Satan. Neither witchcraft nor any of the blackmagic will have power over us. Those who do witchcraft against us will finally be destroyed by them. In times of trouble, do not suspect that someone has done witchcraft against you. If you are a child of God none of these can touch you.
Prince of Peace
For those of you who have no peace in life, God shall enter your heart as a prince of peace and give you peace in your life, if you allow him to rule your heart.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace Isaiah 9:6.
A God who smites his enemies
Our God is the most compassionate God. He loves the sinners and He waits for the sinners to return to him and repent for their sins and lead a holy life. This does not mean that the wicked can always escape the wrath of God. Lord shall definitely punish them if they do not repent.
I see him, but not now. I behold him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob, a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will crush the foreheads of Moab and the skulls of all the sons of Sheth Numbers 24:17.
Those who rise against Gods people will be smitten. Nothing can rescue them from the wrath of God. You may be a small group, or may be a single family who knows the Lord in your community. Are you being tormented just because you belong to Christ. Leave your burden at the feet of God, no one can touch you unless the Lord gives them permission. Cheer up for the Lord is in your side. Their evil works shall backfire on them.
A God who rewards suitably
Paul while closing the letter to Timothy writes,
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing II Timothy 4:7,8.
After going through all the trials and tribulations Paul writes that the Lord will give him the crown of righteousness. This crown is not meant for Paul alone, it is meant for anyone who has gone through sufferings for the His name sake. Several times you wonder what is the use of leading a righteous life, why should I be afflicted with disease, why am I leading a hand-to-mouth existence always, when will there be a relief in my life? I do good to others all I get in return is insults, humiliation, shame and poverty. Why? Some receive the blessings of the Lord here in this world itself. But for others their reward in heaven is greater. He knows your sufferings, the trials that you undergo, and also your holy life. He keeps an account of all of them. You will rejoice greatly when you are crowned with the crown of righteousness.
Do not worry about the wicked who appear to be blessed in all ways. God says,My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done Revelation 22:12.
Although we have seen only a few attributes of the God whom we believe, he is far greater than our imaginations. Do we need to fear the world anymore? We need not have to fear the power of witchcraft, principalities of darkness or the wicked people around us. Christ has crushed the head of Satan on the cross. If you trust in Him you can lead a victorious life.
